THE ICON FACTORY MURAL PROJECT

The Icon Factory's new Mural project for 2016 has just started and we hope to see many great artworks created over the next twelve months.

Special thanks to Barney Phair our benefactor and man-with-the-plan for helping get the project off the ground.

The wall as a canvas has been donated by the Icon Factory for 2016 to promote art, advertise Icon Factory events, celebrate Irish Icons as part of the ongoing Icon Walk project and to bring colour and positivity to the area.

The Icon Factory is a non-profit artist co-operative that has been helping and supporting artists since 2010. They provide a commission-free exhibition space for artists to hold exhibitions, sell their artworks and avail of some of the Icon Factory's production services at an affordable rate.

I was delighted to find a crossroads of back streets covered in murals celebrating the whole spectrum of Irish cultural icons. This means literary giants, musicians, political and popular personalities who have had an impact on Irish society, sporting heroes, thespians and a whole lot more. Sitting at the centre of the crossroads was the organisation responsible for this magnificent display - The Icon Factory.  VALERIE GROVE
